Biography

Ben Winspear is an Australian actor and director, also credited as Benjamin Winspear. Born around 1975 or 1976 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, he trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1997. He has an extensive theatre career and has worked as an actor, adaptor, director and in other production roles.

On screen, Winspear is known for playing Oskar Vanek in the 2014 horror film The Babadook, Detective Sergeant Tim Browne in the 2012 series Underbelly: Badness, Peter Anderson in Bad Girl (2016), and roles in A Place to Call Home (2014–2015) and Bay of Fires (2023). He is married to actress Marta Dusseldorp and they co-own the production company Archipelago Productions in Hobart, Tasmania.
