Biography
Bengt Forslund (also credited as Bengt Erik Forslund) is a Swedish film producer, screenwriter and production manager. Born on 22 June 1932 in Grödinge, near Stockholm, he founded the influential film magazine Chaplin in 1959 and later worked as a producer at Svensk Filmindustri and the Swedish Film Institute.
He is best known for his long collaboration with director Jan Troell. Forslund co-wrote the screenplays and produced The Emigrants (1971) and The New Land (1972), both adapted from Vilhelm Moberg’s novels. For The Emigrants he received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. He has also produced and written numerous other Swedish films, directed several features and authored books on cinema.
