Biography
Benjamin Britten was an English composer. He was born on 22 November 1913 in Lowestoft, Suffolk, and died on 4 December 1976 in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
Britten composed scores for documentary films in the 1930s and 1940s. His music, including the Suite No. 2 for Cello Solo, was used posthumously in Ingmar Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander (1982). He is also known for operas such as Peter Grimes (1945) and Billy Budd (1951), as well as the War Requiem (1962).
