Biography
Benny Rubin (1899–1986) was an American comedian and character actor who appeared in more than 200 radio, film and television productions over a career spanning five decades. Born Benjamin Rubin in Boston, Massachusetts, he moved to Hollywood in 1929 and made his film debut in Naughty Baby.
He specialised in dialect roles and comic supporting parts. Rubin is credited in Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941) as Bugs and appeared in Citizen Kane (1941), Pocketful of Miracles (1961) and Coma (1978). On television he played recurring or guest roles in series including I Love Lucy (1951), The Munsters (1964), The Beverly Hillbillies (1962) and Perry Mason (1957). He also featured in six Three Stooges comedies in the 1950s and worked regularly as a comic foil to Jack Benny.
