Biography

Bernard Balmuth was an American film and television editor. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he graduated from UCLA and began his career at Columbia Pictures before editing numerous television series and made-for-television films over three decades.

His credits include episodes of The Monkees, The Partridge Family, The Waltons, Vega$, Palmerstown, U.S.A. and nine episodes of Taxi in 1982. He also edited several television movies, such as The Last Hurrah (1977) and Flight 90: Disaster on the Potomac (1984).

Balmuth taught film editing at the UCLA Extension for more than ten years. He was active in the American Cinema Editors and served as a judge for the Emmy Awards; he received one Primetime Emmy nomination.
