Biography
Bert Rule (1911–1984) was a British film and television editor. Born Albert Henry Rule on 30 June 1911 in Lambeth, London, he began his career in the editorial department as an assembly cutter on features in the late 1940s and early 1950s, later working as a sound editor before advancing to film editor roles.
He edited feature films including Zarak (1956), Tarzan's Greatest Adventure (1959), Two-Way Stretch (1960) and Murder at the Gallop (1963). On television he contributed to The Saint (1962), editing 21 episodes between 1966 and 1969, and one episode of The Avengers (1961) in 1967, as well as serving as supervising editor on Return of the Saint (1978–1979). Rule remained active into the early 1980s with short films and died on 1 September 1984 in Barnet, London.
