Biography

Betty Arthur was an American actress and dancer. Born Elizabeth Kathryn Leopold on 6 December 1910 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she moved to Los Angeles in 1923 and trained with dance instructor Ernest Belcher.

She appeared in uncredited dance roles in two notable films of the silent and early sound eras: as a ballet dancer in The Phantom of the Opera (1925) and as a chorus dancer in The Broadway Melody (1929). Additional screen credits include small parts in short subjects such as Making Good (1926), The Midnight Bum (1927) and Red Hot Rhythm (1929).

Arthur died on 26 March 2005 in Los Angeles, California.
