Biography
Bia Salgado is a Brazilian costume designer, also credited as Maria Beatriz Salgado or Beatriz Salgado. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1956, she graduated in visual communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ). She began working in film in 1988 on Que bom te ver viva, directed by Lúcia Murat.
She frequently collaborated with her sister, costume designer Inês Salgado, including on Os sermões (1989). Together they established the costume centre Como manda o figurino. Salgado has designed costumes for numerous Brazilian and international productions. Her credits include City of God (2002), Turistas (2006), Last Stop 174 (2008), Trash (2014), The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019) and series such as The Mechanism (2018). She has received three wins and 17 nominations for her work.
