Biography
Bill Griffith (born William Henry Jackson Griffith, also credited as Griffy) is an American cartoonist and actor. Born on 20 January 1944 in Brooklyn, New York City, he is best known as the creator of the long-running surreal comic strip Zippy the Pinhead.
Griffith was part of the San Francisco underground comix scene from 1970. He appeared as himself in the documentary Crumb (1995) and has other self credits including It Came from Kuchar (2009). He acted in The Devil's Cleavage (1975). He was married to cartoonist Diane Noomin from 1980 until her death in 2022.
