Biography
Bill Macy (born Wolf Martin Garber) was an American actor. He was born on 18 May 1922 in Revere, Massachusetts, and died on 17 October 2019 in Los Angeles. He was best known for playing Walter Findlay, the husband of the title character, in the CBS sitcom Maude (1972–1978).
Macy appeared as Stan Fox in the 1979 film The Jerk. His other film roles included the jury foreman in The Producers (1967) and parts in Analyze This (1999), Surviving Christmas (2004) and The Holiday (2006). He began his career on stage, including as an original cast member of the revue Oh! Calcutta!, and later made guest appearances in series such as Seinfeld and My Name Is Earl. He was married to actress Samantha Harper from 1975.
