Biography
Bill Melendez (born José Cuauhtémoc Melendez) was a Mexican-American animator, director, producer and voice actor. He began his career at Walt Disney Productions in 1938, working as an assistant animator on Pinocchio (1940), Fantasia (1940), Dumbo (1941) and Bambi (1942), and is credited as supervising editor on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). He subsequently worked at Warner Bros. Cartoons and UPA before founding Bill Melendez Productions.
Melendez is best known for directing and producing dozens of Peanuts television specials and four feature films, beginning with A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965). He provided the voices of Snoopy and Woodstock across more than fifty productions. His work earned six Primetime Emmy Awards, an Academy Award nomination and two Peabody Awards.
