Biography

Bill Shine (born Wilfred William Dennis Shine) was a British actor who appeared in theatre, film and television. Born in London on 20 October 1911 into a theatrical family, his father Wilfred Shine was also an actor, as were several other relatives. He made his stage debut as a child and entered films in 1929.

Shine had supporting roles in numerous British productions, including The Red Shoes (1948) as Her Mate, Passport to Pimlico (1949) as Captain Willow, Under Capricorn (1949) as Mr Banks and The Avengers (1961) as Cleghorn. Later in his career he was known for playing Inventor Black in the children's series Super Gran (1985–1987). He died in London on 24 July 1997.
