Biography
Bill Stafford is a composer and pedal steel guitarist. He composed, arranged and performed music for Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho (1991), including instrumental versions of "Home on the Range" and "America the Beautiful".
He received the Independent Spirit Award for Best Film Music in 1992 for the score. Earlier credits include orchestrator on Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981), Pete 'n' Tillie (1972) and several 1960s films.
