Biography
Billy Mauch, born William John Mauch, was an American actor and one half of the Mauch twins, with his identical brother Bobby. They were born on 6 July 1921 in Peoria, Illinois, and began singing and acting on radio at the age of seven before appearing in print advertisements.
After moving with their mother to Hollywood in 1935, Billy was cast as the young title character in Anthony Adverse (1936) owing to his resemblance to Fredric March. The brothers starred together as lookalikes in The Prince and the Pauper (1937) and appeared in the Penrod films Penrod and Sam (1937), Penrod's Double Trouble (1938) and Penrod and His Twin Brother (1938). Billy later played small and uncredited roles in films including The Street with No Name (1948), He Walked by Night (1949) and The Accused (1949). He also worked in sound editing.
Mauch died on 29 September 2006 in Palatine, Illinois.
