Biography
Bo Diddley, born Ellas Bates (also credited as Elias Otha Bates and Ellas McDaniel), was an American musician and actor. He appeared in a number of films and television programmes, including as the pawnbroker in Trading Places (1983).
Other screen credits include Blues Brothers 2000 (1998), in which he performed as a member of the Louisiana Gator Boys, Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! (1989) as a legendary guitarist, and a guest role as himself in the series According to Jim (2001). He died in 2008.
