Biography
Bonar Colleano, born Bonar William Sullivan, was an American actor long based in the United Kingdom. He appeared in British films from the mid-1940s, often playing American servicemen, including roles in The Way to the Stars (1945), Wanted for Murder (1946), A Matter of Life and Death (1946) and While the Sun Shines (1947).
His stage work included the role of Stanley Kowalski in the original London production of A Streetcar Named Desire (1949), directed by Laurence Olivier and starring Vivien Leigh. Colleano was from a circus family and was the nephew of tightrope walker Con Colleano. He died in a car crash in Birkenhead in 1958, aged 34.
