Biography
Bonita Granville was an American actress and producer. Born on 2 February 1923, she began her career on stage as a child and made her film debut in Westward Passage (1932). She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in These Three (1936) and appeared as Elsa in The Mortal Storm (1940). Other notable film roles include those in Now, Voyager (1942) and the Nancy Drew series.
In 1947 Granville married oilman and producer Jack Wrather. She retired from acting in front of the camera in the 1950s but later worked as a producer on the Lassie television series. She became an executive in the Wrather Corporation, served as chair of the American Film Institute, and was a trustee of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She died on 11 October 1988.
