Biography
Bontarō Miake (also credited as Bontarō Miyake or 見明凡太郎) was a Japanese actor born on 15 October 1906 in Shimane Prefecture.
He trained at the Japan Film Actors School and worked extensively from the late 1920s, appearing in more than 300 films across silent and sound eras as well as television dramas from 1959. Notable roles include Kichiji in Kenji Mizoguchi’s Sansho the Bailiff (1954), Officer Nonomura in Street of Shame (1956), Chen-Hsuan-li in Princess Yang Kwei-fei (1955), Admiral Koshiro Oikawa in Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) and the Self-Defense Force General in Gamera vs. Barugon (1966). He retired after The Most Dangerous Game (1978) and died in 1987.
