Biography
Bráulio Mantovani is a Brazilian screenwriter. Born in July 1963 in São Paulo, he graduated in Portuguese Language and Literature from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo and completed postgraduate studies in screenwriting at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
He began writing professionally for theatre groups in 1987. In the early 1990s he worked as a camera assistant and assistant director in New York. Returning to Brazil, he wrote the screenplay for the short film Palace II (2001), directed by Fernando Meirelles, and the feature City of God (2002). The latter earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. His other screenplays include The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (2006), Elite Squad (2007), Linha de Passe (2008), Last Stop 174 (2008) and Elite Squad: The Enemy Within (2010). He has also written the play Menecma and the book Perácio - Relato Psicótico.
