Biography
Bret Haaland (also credited as Brett Haaland) is an American animator, storyboard artist, director and producer. Born on 10 August 1964 in Hennepin County, Minnesota, he studied at the California Institute of the Arts. He began his career as a layout artist on the first season of The Simpsons (1989–1990) at Klasky Csupo.
Haaland directed episodes of The Critic (1994) and served as supervising director for the second season of Futurama (1999–2000), directing a total of 25 episodes across the series (1999–2003). He later directed episodes of Father of the Pride (2004–2005) and multiple series and specials for DreamWorks Animation, including The Penguins of Madagascar (2008–2012), All Hail King Julien (2014–2017) and Fast & Furious Spy Racers (2019–2021). He has received several Emmy Awards and nominations for his work in animation.
