Biography
Brooke Chia Thao is an actor best known for playing Vu, the widowed mother of the central Hmong characters, in Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino (2008).
Born in Laos, she immigrated to the United States and settled in Visalia, California. She had no formal acting training prior to the film and was cast after accompanying her children to an audition. She had previously performed Hmong dancing and singing.
