Biography

Buford F. Hayes, also known as Bud Hayes, was an American television editor. He began his editing career in 1974 on The Rockford Files, after earlier work as an assistant editor on series including Baretta and Quincy.

Hayes edited episodes of Galactica 1980 (1980), The A-Team (1983), Miami Vice (1984), The Equalizer (1985) and Murder, She Wrote (1991–1993). He had a long run as editor on In the Heat of the Night (1988–1992), for which he received an Eddie Award in 1989, and worked on television films such as The Return of the Six-Million-Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman (1987) and Asteroid (1997). He retired in 1998.

Born on 28 May 1937 in Parkdale, Arkansas, Hayes died on 3 July 2022 in Florence, Oregon.
