Biography
Katsura Bunshi VI, also known as Bunshi Katsura VI or formerly Katsura Sanshi, is a Japanese rakugo performer, television presenter and actor. Born Shizuya Kawamura on 16 July 1943 in Sakai, Osaka, he trained under Katsura Bunshi V and succeeded to the sixth-generation name in 2012.
He is known for voice roles in animated films including Porco Rosso (1992) as Pikkoro-oyaji, Pom Poko (1994) as Yashimano Hage and Chie the Brat (1981) as Hanai sensei. His live-action credits include Gorufu yoakemae (1987) and various television series. He has also hosted long-running programmes such as Shinkon-san Irasshai! and created numerous original rakugo pieces.
