Biography
Harry Gerard 'Buzz' Bissinger III is an American journalist and author. Born in New York City on 1 November 1954, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. He began his career as a reporter for newspapers including the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
In 1987, Bissinger shared a Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting for a series on corruption in the Philadelphia court system. He later moved to Odessa, Texas, where he wrote the 1990 non-fiction book Friday Night Lights. He has been a contributing editor at Vanity Fair since the mid-1990s and wrote the 1998 article 'Shattered Glass'.
Bissinger co-wrote teleplays and stories for the television series NYPD Blue in its eighth season. His other books include A Prayer for the City (1997) and Three Nights in August (2005).
