Biography
Sir Cameron Mackintosh (born 17 October 1946) is a British theatrical producer and theatre owner. He began producing shows in 1967 and has been responsible for some of the most commercially successful musicals in history, including the original London productions of Les Misérables (1985), The Phantom of the Opera (1986) and Cats (1981), as well as Miss Saigon and Mary Poppins.
In 2012, alongside Working Title Films and Universal, he produced the film adaptation of Les Misérables, directed by Tom Hooper and starring Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. Mackintosh was knighted in 1996 for services to British theatre. He has also co-produced Hamilton in the UK and owns several West End theatres.
