Biography
Caren Pistorius is a New Zealand actress. Born in Rustenburg, South Africa, she moved to Auckland with her family at the age of 12 and began acting in high school theatre productions. She studied art and design at the Auckland University of Technology, majoring in animation and illustration, before returning to theatre and entering television and film work.
Pistorius made her screen debut in the 2009 television series Legend of the Seeker. Her international feature film debut came with the role of Rose Ross in the 2015 western Slow West, opposite Michael Fassbender and Kodi Smit-McPhee. She has since appeared in films including The Light Between Oceans (2016), Denial (2016), Cargo (2017), Mortal Engines (2018), Gloria Bell (2019), Unhinged (2020) and The Marsh King's Daughter (2023).
In 2014 she received nominations for a Graham Kennedy Award and a Logie Award for her Australian television work.
