Biography
Carla Caffé is a Brazilian production designer and art director. She trained as an architect at the University of São Paulo and began working in film in the late 1990s.
She received her first major credit as co-production designer, with Cássio Amarante, on Walter Salles’s Central Station (1998). Subsequent credits include art direction on Bossa Nova (2000) and production design on Narradores de Javé (2003) and The Cambridge Squatter (2016). She has also directed, including the 2020 documentary Para Onde Voam as Feiticeiras.
Caffé is the sister of director Eliane Caffé, with whom she has collaborated on several projects, including Era o Hotel Cambridge (2017). She maintains a studio in São Paulo and has published books of observational drawings of the city.
