Biography
Caroline O'Connor is a British-born Australian actress and singer. Born on 2 September 1962 in Oldham, Lancashire, England, she trained at the Royal Ballet School in London and began her professional career with the Australian Opera Ballet before moving into musical theatre.
She made her West End leading lady debut in 1995 as Mabel Normand in Mack and Mabel, receiving a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. O'Connor appeared as Nini Legs in the Air in Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! (2001) and as Ethel Merman in the Cole Porter biopic De-Lovely (2004). Her stage credits include Velma Kelly in Chicago on Broadway and in Australia, and roles in productions such as Piaf, End of the Rainbow and Anything Goes. She has won three Helpmann Awards for her Australian theatre work.
