Biography
Carolyn Choa is a choreographer, dancer, director and actress born in Hong Kong. She was educated at St Paul’s Co-educational College in Hong Kong, Hull University and the London School of Contemporary Dance. As a dancer she toured with the Mantis Dance Company and performed at venues including the Royal Opera House and English National Opera.
Her screen acting credits include the role of Translator in Anthony Minghella’s Truly Madly Deeply (1990) and appearances in the television series Inspector Morse (1990) and the short film Rose Red (1994). She has worked extensively as a choreographer on films including The English Patient (1996) and The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), and on numerous opera productions. Choa was married to Minghella until his death in 2008; they had two children.
