Biography

Cary Guffey is an American former child actor and financial planner. He made his film debut at the age of four or five as Barry Guiler in Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977).

He appeared in several further films and television productions through the mid-1980s, including The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid (1979) and its sequel Everything Happens to Me (1980), Stroker Ace (1983), Cross Creek (1983), Night Shadows (1984) and the miniseries North and South (1985) as Young Billy Hazard. His last on-screen role was in 1985.

Guffey was born in Douglasville, Georgia, and later worked in financial services, including roles at Merrill Lynch and, from 2012, PNC Investments. He holds a degree in marketing from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. from Jacksonville State University.
