Biography
Catherine Lacey (6 May 1904 – 23 September 1979) was an English actress of stage and screen. Born in London, she made her film debut in 1938 as the nun in Alfred Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes, credited as Catherine Lacy.
Her film roles include Mrs. Robinson in I Know Where I'm Going! (1945), Mrs. Waggett in Whisky Galore! (1949), Lady Agatha Mounset in The Servant (1963), Estelle Monserrat in The Sorcerers (1967) and a part in The Mummy's Shroud (1967). She won the Silver Asteroid award for best actress at the 1968 Trieste Science Fiction Film Festival for The Sorcerers and had earlier received the Guild of TV Producers and Directors award as Actress of the Year.
Lacey's stage career included work with the Old Vic and Royal Shakespeare Company. On television she debuted in a 1938 BBC production of The Duchess of Malfi and made her final appearance in the 1973 Play for Today instalment Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont.
