Biography

Catherine Lutes is a Canadian cinematographer. She trained in film theory and production at the University of British Columbia, graduating in 2003, and began her career working in lighting departments on sets in Vancouver before moving into cinematography on independent projects.

She is credited as director of photography on the Black Mirror episode 'Joan is Awful' (2023). Her other credits include the series Anne with an E (for which she won a Canadian Screen Award), Y: The Last Man (2021), and films such as Disappearance at Clifton Hill (2020), Molly Maxwell (2013), Close to You (2023) and There, There (2024). She has also shot music videos and commercials.

Lutes has received multiple Canadian Society of Cinematographers awards and nominations, including for her work on Black Mirror.
