Biography
Catherine O'Hara was a Canadian actor and comedian. She began her career with the Second City comedy troupe in Toronto in the 1970s and gained prominence on the sketch series SCTV.
She appeared in films including Beetlejuice (1988) and its 2024 sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the Home Alone films (1990 and 1992), and Christopher Guest mockumentaries. Her voice work included roles in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), Elemental (2023) and The Wild Robot (2024). On television she starred in Schitt's Creek and appeared in The Last of Us and The Studio (2025).
O'Hara received Emmy Awards for her work on SCTV and Schitt's Creek, as well as a Golden Globe for the latter. She died on 30 January 2026 in Los Angeles.
