Biography
Celia Rose Gooding is an American actor and singer, born on 22 February 2000 in New York City. Their mother is the actress, singer and dancer LaChanze. Gooding attended the Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York, and graduated with honours in performing arts.
Gooding made their Broadway debut in the rock musical Jagged Little Pill (2019), playing Mary Frances "Frankie" Healy. For this role they received a 2020 Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical and shared in the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. They appear as Nyota Uhura in the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022–present) and played Jess in the film Breakwater (2023).
