Biography
Chad Cannon is an American composer, orchestrator and multi-instrumentalist. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and studied at Harvard University and the Juilliard School.
He began working in film music as an assistant orchestrator for Conrad Pope on scores including Howard Shore’s The Hobbit trilogy and Alexandre Desplat’s Godzilla (2014) and The Secret Life of Pets (2016). Cannon has also collaborated extensively with Joe Hisaishi, serving as lead orchestrator and arranger for Hisaishi’s Studio Ghibli concert tours.
His composing credits include the score for the documentary American Factory (2019). He has worked on other projects such as Hidden Letters (2022) and Exposing Muybridge, for which he received a News & Documentary Emmy nomination.
