Biography
Charles Binamé is a Quebec film and television director. Born in Herve, Belgium, he moved to Montreal with his family as a child. He began working at the National Film Board of Canada in the early 1970s before directing documentaries for Quebec television and later television commercials.
In the 1990s he directed the popular Quebec television series Blanche and Marguerite Volant, as well as feature films including Eldorado (1995), Streetheart (1998) and Pandora's Beauty (2000). His later films include the box-office hit Séraphin: Heart of Stone (2002) and The Rocket (2005), for which he won a Genie Award for best director. He has also directed episodes of series such as Being Human (2011), The Listener (2009–2012), Rookie Blue (2010) and Reign (2013–2017), and the feature Elephant Song (2014).
