Biography
Charles C. Mann is an American journalist and author specialising in scientific topics. He graduated from Amherst College in 1976 and has written for publications including The Atlantic, Science and Wired.
His books include 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus (2005), which won the National Academies Communication Award, and 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created (2011). He has also written for television, including the Law & Order episode 'Scoundrels' (1994) and Freedom Riders (2009).
Mann is a three-time National Magazine Award finalist and recipient of awards from the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Physics, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Lannan Foundation.
