Biography
Charles Crumb (1942–1992) appeared as himself in the documentary film Crumb (1995), directed by Terry Zwigoff. The film centres on his younger brother, the underground cartoonist Robert Crumb, and includes interviews with family members filmed in Philadelphia.
From childhood, Charles encouraged Robert and their brother Maxon to draw comics. He produced his own comics but mental health difficulties meant none were published. He lived with his mother in Philadelphia and died by suicide in 1992, before the film was completed.
