Biography
Charles 'Honi' Coles (2 April 1911 – 12 November 1992) was an American actor and tap dancer. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and died in New York City. He is known for his role as Tito Suarez in the film Dirty Dancing (1987).
Coles had an extensive career in tap dance and theatre. He formed the duo Coles & Atkins with Charles 'Cholly' Atkins and appeared on Broadway in productions including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1949) and My One and Only (1983), for which he received Tony and Drama Desk Awards for best featured actor in a musical. He also appeared in the films Rocky II (1979) and The Cotton Club (1984). Coles received the National Medal of Arts in 1991 and was inducted posthumously into the Tap Dance Hall of Fame in 2003.
