Biography
Charlie Hauck (26 October 1941 – 14 November 2020) was an American television writer and producer. He graduated from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and worked as a journalist, including as a reporter and bureau chief for BusinessWeek and at Pittsburgh’s WQED public television station, before entering television writing in the mid-1970s.
Hauck wrote for and produced episodes of Maude. He co-created The Associates (1979) and created the series that became The Hogan Family (originally Valerie, 1986). His other credits include writing for One Day at a Time, Home Improvement (as executive producer and writer) and Frasier (as writer and consulting/supervising producer). He received two Primetime Emmy nominations, including for Outstanding Comedy Series for Frasier in 2000. Hauck also wrote the novel Artistic Differences (1993) and hosted the Humanitas Prize Awards from 2007 to 2010.
