Biography
Charlie McDermott is an American actor, director, writer and musician. He was born Charles Joseph McDermott Jr. on 6 April 1990 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 16.
McDermott made his film debut in The Village (2004). His breakout role came in the crime drama Frozen River (2008), for which he received a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male. He gained further recognition as a series regular playing Axl Heck in the ABC sitcom The Middle (2009–2018).
Other credits include supporting roles in Hot Tub Time Machine (2010), Instant Family (2018) and Countdown (2019), and a recurring part as Ty in the Netflix miniseries Unbelievable (2019). He has been married to Sara Rejaie since 2017.
