Biography
Charles Floyd Johnson, also credited as Chas. Floyd Johnson, is an American television producer. Born in Camden, New Jersey, he earned a BA in political science and a JD from Howard University before moving to Los Angeles in 1971. He began in the mail room at Universal Studios and advanced to production coordinator before becoming associate producer, then producer, on the series The Rockford Files (1974–1980).
Johnson later served as producer on Magnum, P.I. (1980–1988) and co-executive producer on JAG (1995–2005) and NCIS (2003–). He was also a producer on the feature film Red Tails (2012). A three-time Emmy winner and seven-time nominee, he received the award for Outstanding Drama Series for The Rockford Files in 1978. He has additional credits as an actor and has been involved in industry organisations supporting diversity in broadcasting.
