Biography
Chen Po-Wen is a Taiwanese film editor. Born in 1953 in Tainan, he graduated in 1974 from the Department of Radio and Television at the National Taiwan Junior College of Arts. He began working in film as a script clerk and assistant director before becoming an editor under the guidance of Huang Chiu-kuei.
He is known for his work on Edward Yang’s A Brighter Summer Day (1991) and Yi Yi (2000), as well as Mahjong (1996) and A Confucian Confusion (1994). Chen has edited more than 150 films and has collaborated with directors including Wei Te-sheng, Cheng Yu-chieh and Chang Tso-chi.
Chen won the Golden Horse Award for Best Film Editing for Darkness and Light (1999) and Do Over (2006). In 2004 he received the Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year award at the Golden Horse Film Festival.
