Biography
Chips Hardy, also known as Edward John "Chips" Hardy, is an English writer, novelist, playwright and screenwriter. Born in London in 1950, he worked as a creative director in advertising before focusing on writing across television, theatre, film and prose.
Hardy co-created the BBC One and FX series Taboo (2017) with his son, actor Tom Hardy, and Steven Knight. He also wrote episodes and served as consulting producer. The series earned him the Writers' Guild of Great Britain award for Best Long Form TV Drama in 2018. Earlier credits include the children's series Helping Henry (1988), work on Dave Allen (for which he received a British Comedy Award), and the drama About Face (1989).
His other work encompasses novels such as Each Day A Small Victory (2007) and plays including Blue on Blue. He and Tom Hardy have a production company, Hardy, Son and Baker.
