Biography
Chris Bryant was an English screenwriter. Born Christopher Bryan Spencer Dobson on 7 June 1936 in Bolton, Lancashire, he was educated at Radley College and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he read law, and later at McGill University in Canada. He worked as a lawyer and briefly in Canadian politics and television before returning to England.
He collaborated frequently with Allan Scott on screenplays, including The Man Who Had Power Over Women (1970), Don't Look Now (1973), Joseph Andrews (1977) and The Awakening (1980). He also wrote the story for Lady Jane (1986) and contributed to various television films. Bryant occasionally acted in productions he had written. He died on 27 October 2008 in Burford, Oxfordshire.
