Burns is known for his roles in The Walking Dead (2010) as Mike, Zombieland (2009) as the Bicycle Zombie (uncredited) and The Other Side (2006) as Isaac. He has appeared in other films including The Unwanted (2014), in which he also served as producer. He is also credited as Chris 'Fire' Burns.
