Chris Pontius is a funny, unselfconscious presence in the Jackass ensemble, with timing that deserves as much attention as the missing clothes. We recommend the company, with reservations about how often it repeats itself.

Party Boy dances in public in a thong and bow tie. Chris Pontius has made a recurring character from that small wardrobe, and the joke depends on his willingness to look ridiculous without asking for credit. His one-liners and timing give him something to contribute when the clothes stay on. We like the lack of vanity, though the reliance on nudity gives the comedy a fairly narrow set of possibilities.
The move from Jackass on television in 2000 to the first Jackass film in 2002 kept him within an ensemble. Wildboyz (2003–2006), co-hosted with Steve-O, extended the physical comedy to wildlife encounters rather than asking him to become a different sort of performer. His scripted work includes Sammy in Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere (2010), while Jackass Forever (2022) brought a co-producer credit. The continuity matters here: much of his appeal comes from watching him among people as willing as he is to make fools of themselves.
In Jackass: Best and Last (2026), Pontius remains good company alongside Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O because none of them needs to protect his dignity. Their laughter can rescue a weak premise, and his willingness to be part of the indignity matters as much as the stunt itself. We laughed at their shared delight in one another’s discomfort, and felt a little ashamed of how readily we joined them. The willingness to take part keeps the material from turning unpleasant; nobody is claiming to be above it.
The farewell nevertheless relies too heavily on old footage, and the new stunts do not give it enough of its own. That weakness matters for a performer whose comedy uses such familiar means: another undressed body is not automatically another good joke. Choose Best and Last for the company, with some patience for the archive.
Biography
Chris Pontius is an American stunt performer and television personality. He is best known as a cast member of the reality series Jackass and its films, where he has also contributed as a writer and, from Jackass Forever (2022) onwards, as a co-producer. He co-hosted the spin-off series Wildboyz with Steve-O from 2003 to 2006.
Pontius was born on 16 July 1974 in Pasadena, California, and grew up in San Luis Obispo. As a teenager he appeared in the skateboarding magazine Big Brother, later working there as a writer; this led to his involvement in Jackass from its first episode in 2000. He has appeared in films including Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003) and Somewhere (2010).
