Biography

Christel Grandchamp is a Swiss costume designer. Born in Vevey in 1984, she trained in fashion design, pattern making and sewing at the école Laura L in Lausanne from 2004 to 2006. She taught at the school for three years before founding Atelier Gran’Cri in Vevey in 2009, specialising in made-to-measure and haute couture.

Grandchamp’s first work in animation was creating costumes for the 2012 short Monsieur l’assassin X. She served as one of two lead costume designers on the 2016 stop-motion feature My Life as a Zucchini (also known as Ma vie de Courgette), sharing duties with Vanessa Riera and dressing characters including Raymond, Simon and several secondary roles. She has since worked as a primary-school teacher and created costumes for the teaser of Claude Barras’s Sauvages!.
