Biography
Christopher Aoun is a Lebanese-German cinematographer. Born on 15 December 1989 in Beirut, he studied cinematography at the Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth and the University of Television and Film Munich.
He is best known for his work as director of photography on Nadine Labaki's Capernaum (2018), which won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Aoun won the German Cinematography Award in 2019 for the film. His other credits include The Man Who Sold His Skin (2021), All That's Left of You (2025), and the Netflix series The Empress.
Prior to Capernaum, he photographed Philippe Aractingi's Listen (2017) and the documentary Kalveli: Shadows of the Desert (2018). He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
