Biography

Christopher Nightingale is a British composer and orchestrator. He composed the score for the film Pride (2014), which received a BAFTA nomination, and the original score for Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical (2022).

His theatre credits include composing the score for A Christmas Carol (Tony Award winner for Best Original Score), additional music and orchestrations for Matilda the Musical (Tony nomination for Best Orchestrations), and work as musical supervisor, arranger and orchestrator on productions including Ghost the Musical, Groundhog Day and The Lord of the Rings. He served as an organ scholar at Magdalene College, Cambridge, was musical director of the Cambridge Footlights, and worked as a musical director for the Royal Shakespeare Company after graduating in 1987.
